Cucina Povera

The great thing about Cucina Povera is that you get simple, good Italian food for reasonable prices. With locations at both Hornstull and Odenplan, this restaurant works great for both casual and a little more upscale dining (without the price tag). There are a good number of tables at each restaurant, so it’s not too difficult to get a seat.
Mama Wolf

Often crowded, but for a good reason! Mama Wolf serves excellent Japanese food and good prices. With a lively but cozy atmosphere, this cute restaurant on Södermalm, near Mariatorget, is a great place not just for dinner, but also for lunch! They don’t take reservations, but just scan a QR code when you arrive if it’s packed and they will message you when a table is available.
La Neta

If you’re looking to save some money and have some great Mexican food (real Mexican with Mexican owners, not Tex-Mex), then you’ll love La Neta. Ever since it opened, it’s been one of the most popular places in Stockholm. The prices on tacos and quesadillas are much lower than most Stockholm restaurants, and it’s truly authentic. There are several locations with the most popular being just off Drottninggatan (Barnhusgatan) and Södermalm. (Tip: Only this location, near the NK department store, serves alcohol.)
Bananas

Bananas has both indoor and outdoor seating, so it’s a great place to visit year round. During the summer, the outdoor seating is located on the popular walkway, Katarina Bangata, where there are markets on the weekend and plenty of interesting locals walking by. Bananas does a great pizza, as well as drinks, but there are plenty of other menu items as well to experience.
Meno Male

With four locations in Stockholm and affordable prices, Meno Male is a favorite for excellent Naples-style pizzas during the winter months. Reservations are not accepted, but come early in the evening to grab a seat. Sometimes they even have special deals on Tuesdays!
Dirty Taco

Dirty Taco has 3 locations around Stockholm. Two on Södermalm and one near St. Eriksplan. Prices are good as well as the food. There are special deals at lunch and in the evenings you can get margaritas and other drinks for a good deal if you arrive early. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s a nice, casual place to meet with friends for good food.
Thongwiset

This fabulous Thai restaurant has two locations on Södermalm. Open for lunch and dinner, Thongwiset serves up some excellent dishes, plus, the menu changes just a bit from time to time, so it’s always fun to visit again. This has become my new go-to for suggestions for a casual dinner in the area.
Tutto Bello

Located near beautiful Tegnérlunden park, Tutto Bello often flies under the radar, even though it has a cozy, romatic atmosphere and very reasonable prices for their delicious pasta and pizzas. If you are just visiting Stockholm, this restaurant is located not too far from the main shopping street of Drottningholm, so it’s a great place for a relaxing dinner after shopping or sightseeing. You might want to make reservations if you want to dine there on a weekend.
GoChoo

I almost didn’t include this one because it’s my favorite and I don’t want it too crowded to the point that I can’t get a table! But it’s just too good to not spread the word. GoChoo is located near Odenplan. The food is extremely flavorful and the woman who owns the place is so friendly. It’s truly a treat and I go here anytime I’m in the neighborhood. My favorite dish is beef udon. Open for both lunch and dinner, but check the website for opening hours during holidays and summer.
