Dessert and treats for anyone with a sweet tooth is one thing that Stockholm does best. Ice cream, chocolate, pastries… Whatever you’re in the mood for, there’s a good chance you can find it in any corner of the city. Here are 15 of my top places to go when I’m looking for a great dessert spot.
Top Ice Cream / Gelato Places in Stockholm
Swedes are famously devoted to ice cream, enjoying it year-round no matter the weather. Of course, there are more places open in summer than winter, so you might want to double-check the following places for opening times.
ARYAM

ARYAM is a popular gelato spot on Södermalm, just a short walk from Slussen. There’s no seating inside, so you’ll often find a line of people waiting to grab a cone and enjoy it on the go. The gelato is creamy, not overly sweet, and has an authentic flavor that makes it stand out. It’s a perfect quick stop while exploring the neighborhood or heading out for a walk.
Snö

This tasty ice cream spot has two locations within Stockholm city. One is located near Hornstull and another on Odengatan, right across from Vasaparken. Seating is limited, but most people grab a cone and head to the park to enjoy their treat in the open air. Snö is known for its unique and creative flavors, with fresh-tasting ingredients. There’s always something new and creative on offer every day.
Stikki Nikki

A long-time Stockholm favorite, Stikki Nikki is known for making fresh gelato from scratch every day with high-quality ingredients. They’re committed to eco-friendly packaging and always offer vegan options, with the Mariatorget shop dedicated entirely to vegan flavors. The menu also changes daily, so you can always expect something new and unique to try. With locations across the city, including Gamla Stan, it’s the perfect stop for a break while sightseeing.
Kungsholmens Glassfabrik

Located on Kungsholmen near the Rådhuset tunnelbana station, Kungsholmens Glassfabrik is known for crafting ice cream with high-quality raw materials and natural ingredients, following carefully developed recipes. They offer a wide selection of flavors, ranging from classic favorites to creative variations. And unlike many spots in the city, you can sit and enjoy your ice cream in their cozy café.
Kenny’s Gelato

In the city, you can find Kenny’s Gelato on Djurgården for a tasty treat when checking out the museums and activities on the island. Or you can also grab some at Hötorget while taking a break from shopping. In fact, the Hötorget location sits atop a terrace, which makes for a very pleasant place to enjoy your ice cream while overlooking the city below. You can also get a coffee to go at most locations.

Where to Find Chocolates & Confectioneries in Stockholm
Stockholmers also have a deep love for chocolate and sweets, with confectioneries playing a big role in everyday life. You’ll notice this sweet tradition the most on Saturday when many families indulge in “lördagsgodis” (Saturday candy). If you happen to be at a grocery store with candy bins, you’ll see lots of kids filling up their bag – and quite a few adults as well.
Chokladfabriken

Chokladfabriken is probably the most popular place for chocolate in Stockholm, so not quite a hidden gem, but definitely worth a stop. There are locations near Hötorget, and on Södermalm, where you can sit and enjoy a hot chocolate with specially selected pralines, among other things. It’s also a great place to buy chocolate gifts for people back home.
Betsy Sandberg Choklad

Tucked into Östermalms Saluhall, Betsy Sandberg Choklad has been serving Stockholm with handmade pralines and luxurious truffles since 1926. Many of their chocolates blend tradition with rich Nordic flavors, and the quality is top-notch!
Lakritsroten

Lakritsroten is a specialty shop dedicated entirely to licorice, offering everything from sweet and salty classics to gourmet creations. The most visited location is in Gamla Stan, but you can also find shops near Hornstull and in the MOOD shopping center in the middle of town. Sweet, salty – and even licorice shower gel. It’s definitely a fun and distinctly Swedish place to explore.
Pärlans Konfektyr

For something a little more unique, you can step back in time at Pärlans Konfektyr with its 1930s-inspired interior and staff dressed in vintage style. They’re known for their silky, hand-wrapped caramels in flavors like sea salt and cardamom. Located on Södermalm near the popular Nytorget park, it’s a great area to explore, so why not stop in and try something special?
Gamla Stans Polkagriskokeri

In the heart of Stockholm’s Old Town, Gamla Stans Polkagriskokeri is a traditional candy shop where you can watch red-and-white peppermint sticks twisted by hand. The live demonstrations and sweet aromas make it as much an experience as a treat. Plus, it’s a perfect place to pick up a colorful and tasty souvenir!
